Jote iMtrlligmcr. Six Jose. Jan. 19. 1831. An express rider from Mnripnsa county arrived in this rity citia evening. He has brought intelliarnre of a battle between fonr hnndred Indians and a party of fifty or sixty Americans, under the command of Captain James Burner The despatches containing this intelligence are dated at '• Agua Frio," and they state that the Indians were strongly entrenched in one of their villages. Their posi ion was attacked at the davrn of day, on or about the morn ing of the 9th inst. by the Americana, led on by Capt. Burney. The battle was a hard fought one. ami lasted three hours The result was that the Indians were driven from the village, with a loss of sixty killed and from ten to twenty wounded. Eight Americans were wounded, two of them mortally. One of the latter was Lieut. S. Keane. nnd the other a \ir. Little. The deceased are particularly noticed in the despatches as having behaved with courage and intrepidity. After the battle the Americans burned...
