It is said that Volnky E. Howard w ill be the nominee of the Convention which assembles in Sacramento, July 23d. A party of about fifteen ladies and gentlemen from Merced county, passed through here last week for Yo Semite Valley. A call is published in today's paper for a meeting of the Tiinocratic Union Central Committee, to adopt measures for calling a nominating county convention. T. W. Park and family, accompanied by several others froui Bear Valley, passed lirough here last 'tonday week, for the YoSemite Falls. Frors $30,000 to $35,000 worth of property was destroyed in San Francisco, Thursday last, by fire. The weather for the past week has been oppressively hot, the thermometer ranging from 100' to 110°. The proprietors of the San Andreas Indepen dent, will start an independent daily paper in Stockton, August next. 30,000 letters were destroyed in San Francisco, by Postmaster Parker; the accumulation of the Dead Letter office for the past year.
