Tlic Convention. [Newspaper Article] — Weekly Alta California — 20 September 1849

Tlic Convention. ? \ 'I he mail of Saturday last, from Monterey, ! put us ill possession of conventional proceedings complete to Wednesday evening, I2lh ' instant. The ocean steamer Oregon, Commander Pearson, arrived in this porl Tuesday, |atK inst . about II a. m., after a pleasant passage of 20 days. The Oregon brings 400 passengers, and papers from the United States to the 2titli July. Our usual tiles have been received from New York July 17, from Mobile, New Orleans, Charleston, S. C., and from various parts of the States. The itenmer left Panama on her regular sailing day, there having arrived no mail up to the time of her departure. The merest shadow of apology for thin negligence may not be given. A few papers and letters obtained per Alabama, steamer, at the Isthmus, constitute the sum total received by the Oregon, We find but little said in the papers about the gold fever. The cholera still ragas in the States, and excepting the melancholy accounts ol its ravages, the papers are u...
