The true man is justified in defending himself and property against an aggressor, at all hazards and by every means he can command. . If he is successful in his defense and drives his assailant away, he should be content, and not seek to do h : m a wrong, evil though he may be, by a war of retaliation. Having saved himself, lie should, by Christian example strive to save his enemy. War is inevitable, but this is 110 reason why humanity should be forgotten and mercy ignored.
