AUGUST31. 197{ i)ur^ imons Enough Is Enough _F°Jlow'ng the city council meeting Monday night, when Smithville Police Chief Bui Nestoroff was "terminated" for a lack of confidence in his ability to handle the job. he demanded a public hearing. The legality of his request will have to be determined by attorneys. What we question is the reason behind Nestoroffs request. Only one week ago. Nestoroff stood before the council and gave a lengthy explanation of his qualifications and experience. Unfortunately, he also felt that he had to deliver several allegations against Councilman Hal Wallace and some thinly-veiled comments concerning the councilman's famdy. The council knows Nestoroffs background. They have heard testimony all summer long about his actions with the police force. Indeed, they should know more about the man than any chief before 7 Ti :gations against Wallace would ith them. One of them went so 1 ue...

PAGE 1 Tigers Top Somerville In Scrimmage SMITHVILLE — A 60- yard pass from senior quarterback Michael Gar- cia to junior Joe Bridges higlighted an other- wise lackluster scrimmage between Smithville and Somerville here Friday. The pass, which came on the Tigers* second of- fensive series, set Smith- ville up on the Yegua one- yard line, and Jimmy Campion scored on a pow- er play on the next down. That proved to be the only score of the evening as both teams threatened, but were hurt by fumbles and interceptions. Likewise, both teams did better on defense. Coach Rick Amick cited defensive end Terrv John- son and linebackers Brooke Hurta and Mark White for their play. Despite the difficulties on offense, coach Rick Amick had several good comments about the scrimmage. He said that the running backs ran hard and with deter- mination, but needed to work on hitting holes and not running too far out- side...
