RUTHERGLEN Rainfall last Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights totalled 242 points. Messrs. Carter and Pascoe crushed nine loads of quartz from Prentice's mine fnr 29 07,s. 4 ilwts. Last Thursday afternoon Mr. W. C. Shaw, Chiltern, who was engaged at the Rutherglen Government Battery, met with an accident when a water pipe he was installing struck an ob struction and made a large punctured wound on ^liis leg. He was attended by Dr. Davis and. removed by ambu lance to Corowa Hospital, suffering severely from loss of Mood and shock.

S JUNEE. — At a meeting of the ?i Junee Hospital Board it was decided |i to ask the council for water at the ?; same rate as provided for the local !; swimming ipool, that is 1/3 per 1000 ? gallons, as against 1/6 charged the ? hospital. For some years the hospital has I failed to get a reduction in charges j as has been constantly asked. From 'i time to time various grounds for this reduction havo been advanced. A letter was received from the Hos pitals' Association of N.S.W., asking for co-operation in having an altera tion to the method of allocating money to the various institutions. It was claimed that country hos pitals do not got tho same considera tion as do tho city institutions. How ever, the Board would not co-operate, as it was considered that Junee re ceived a fair treatment at the hands ?of tho head body,

EARL POSSIBLY MURDERED Death In Kenya ? NAIBOBI, January 29. — The Earl of Erroll, who was reported to have been killed in a motor-car accident, .may have been murdered. ' This was disclosed at an iriquesf this week, when & doctor gave ovi fences that death! was due to revolver bullet wounds. The bullets entered the Earl of Err'oll's li'ead behind his left, ear, and it was unlikely that they were bait-, inflicted, the doctor said. The inquest was adjourned.
