Woolpacks. [Newspaper Article] — The Canowindra Star — 12 October 1900

Woolpacks. . The following letter, published over the name of Mr A. H. Moore in the S. M* Herald, sheds considerable light on this subject, and should prove of great interest to our subscribers. — . ' Sir,— Many -ji those interested in the wool-growing industry will Ho doubt have noticed an agitation on the part of the vroolbuyera for an alteration in the tare allowance for woolpacks, the move meat in this direction being due to the fact that during the past two or three years much heavier packs have been used than was formerly the case. The usual pack weighed 1 1J lb., while the allowance to the buyer was 1 lib. - but gradually heavier packs have come into use, running up to 121b. and in some cases 131b. To tins the buyers naturally took exception, and in discussing the subject the question of the draft allow ance of lib, per cwt. was alluded to by one of the speakers. The Sydney wool selling brokers have not overlooked this important feature, but could not see their way to take an...
