The promised Electoral Bill, to make better -.provision for the representation of the people, was laid upon Ibe table of the Legislative Assemoly on the night of the 10th instant, and, upon the motion of Sir Henry Parkes, was read the first time, and agreed to without discussion. The second reading is fixed for Wednesday next, when the bill will be dis cussed, and we trust before it reaches its final stage will be, so far as Grenfell is concerned) modified. FREE-SELECTORS' MEETING. A public meeting was held on Thursday afternoon, at the Prince of Wales' Hotel, for the purpose of forming a Fits- Selectors' Association for the District of Grenfell. Mr. Pyne, J.P., having been appointed, took the chair, and after thanking the meet ing for the compliment they had paid him, briefly addressed them upon the business for which they had met, whicli was one, he said, that had already been taken up by many towns, and would probably in a short time be adopted by others all over the country. There was, no doubt, much dissatisfaction felt with respect to the working of the land laws, and he thought the present movement was in the ri...

'What a contrast there sometimes is be tween the adjective and its adverb. For example, the one who is constant in love, and the one who is constantly in love. A little boy thinks it is funny that an elephant should always carry a trnnk when he don't wear any clothes. Thus following conversation took | loce re cently at an hotel: — 'Waiter?'
