Swan, of the council of the Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society, lias withdrawn his proposal that the annual ; spring show of the society should this year he abandoned owing to ; the drought. Many of his col- ; leagues on the council strongly i opposed the proposal, contending that the dry season, although being severely felt by paston.lists and agriculturists, did not justify tho abandoning of a show that has been held with regularity for nearly fifty years. The recent spring show at El more has resulted in the satisfac tory credit balance of £47 5/6. It is stated that the recent Echuca show was held at a loss of £119 to tho society.
