Sweenoy Bros, and Connor re port:—Wo had a fair yarding in at Ynr ram on Friday last, and all sold but a few, though the tono of the market was easier. Wo sold fat cows and heifers 97s to 123s, bullocks at £10 7s Gd, fat stocrs 95s to 1193, store cows (ill good condition) 57s to 79s, 3 yr old steers to 85s, poddies at 20s, big storo pigs 39s 9d. Wo offered the Quinlivan estato of ovor 14,000 acres, but it was passed for private sale. Privately wo have sold a property at Callignec, known as Gooley's, containing over 300 acre?, to Mr Cook. A meeting of committee of the Yarram Town Band was held 011 M'on da)T evening, when arrangements were mado for the skating season, to com mcnce in the local Mechanics' Kail on Saturday, 18th April. Messrs Cam eron, llarrie and Bain wore elected a committee of management. An offer to dispose of a number of pairs of skates was received from Mr C. S. McLcod. The finances were reported as satisfactory, and accounts amount ing to XI- Is Id wore passed for pay ment. Mr Cameron stated he had been asked if th« baml would play at Alberton. The matter was loft in the hands of the bandmaster. Entries for the West Alberton sports close oil Monday next, at G p.m. Work is progressing very well on the West Alberton .new Recreation ground. A monster working bee has been arranged for to-niorrow, com mencing as early as possible as there is a lot of work to be dono. A meet ing of the ladies will be held on Tues day, 31st, at 2 o'clock, to prepare for the luncheon. Mrs. Berry's Forecast ELECTIONS IN JULY OK AUGUST. Speaking before a number of members of the Australian Women's ^National League, and about half-a-dozen gentle men, in the shire hall on Friday even ing last, .Mrs. Barry, an organiser of the League, forecasted a general elec tion for the Federal Houses at either the end of July or beginning of August. She said that the state of the parties in the House, and the frame of mind of the Labor Socialists, were driving the Liberals to ask the Governor-General for a double dissolu tion, The Government were going to the country on two vital questions— the restoring of the postal vote, and preference to unionists. In regard to the selection of candidates she stated that no hole-and-corner city selection would be made. Every member of three Liberal Leagues would receive a ballot paper and have the right to record his vote in the choice of candi dates. Catholic Federation. The second annual report of the Victorian branch of the Australian Catholic Federation lias been issued by the State Council. Tt shows that branches of the Federation have been formed in Victoria, with about 5,000 workers as members of the Branch Councils. Over 10,000 members were enrolled during last year. Prominence is given in the report to the education question, in connection with which public meetings have been held in all the important centres throughout Victoria. 100,000 copies ofaleallet dealing with the question have been distributed. The State Council expresses a determination to persist in bringing under the notice of fair-minded non-Catholics the injustice of the present system as it affects Catholic citizens.
