BRIEF ITEMS. It is reported in Capetown that Da Wet has crossed the Orange River, and is advancing southwards through Cape Colony. Colonel De Lisle's Australians bent the record by marching 72 miles in 48 hours over desolate mid waterliss couutry. Appearances point to the fact that Swuzi and has for n long time been prepared us the last Boer refuge. The British at Bloemfontein are in viting ta/u.ers for hoots and-clothing for distribution among lioer refugees. Corporal George Challis, of the New South Wales Bushmen, has succumbed to enteric fever at Johannesburg.
