Items for Farmers. A WARNING. [Newspaper Article] — Ouyen Mail and Central Mallee Advertiser — 9 October 1914

It ltems for Farrers. A WARN I NG. Co:-pla int has reached the State Premier that while the Price of Goods Board has fixed the price of wheat at 4.9, it is impossible to; ourchase wheat under 5,'6 per bushel retail. The complaint justifies investigation. In comment on the matter, Sir Alexander Pea zock said that the duty of the public was clear. The liiitation of price is a matter of public poicy. and the Government is determ ined! to enforce it rigorously. It was the duty of anyone who found that the statntory price of goods was being exceeded at once to com municate with the covermI2ent or the board, and give the particulars which :iould enable the case to be investigated. The law was clear and definite, and it must be scru pulously observed. People were realising that no exploitation could be permitted. . and while the: Ministry would not harass the trade uunnecessarily it would give instant consideration to complaints showing that any section of it was trying to exploit the publ...
