The Morning Bulletin, ROCKHAMPTON. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1878. [Newspaper Article] — Morning Bulletin — 15 February 1878

ROCKHAMPTON. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1878. -Í As stated in an article a few days ago, the alienation of Grown land by con- ditional selection has not fallen off since the coming into forde of the new Land Act last March. On the contrary, not- withstanding the higljer price imposed, selection appears tojiave gone on with unwonted rapidity. This, however, must not be credited to tho operation of the new Act, and much less to the advance in price. The stimulus given to con- ditional selection last rear resulted from the large areas thrown open for the first time on the ist of March. In the southern portion of the colony, the leased halves of runs rere all resumed, and there was ns urally a rush for the most valuat e spots. The probability is that as compared with any lands ava !able for selec- tion for some years previously those taken up last year were more than worth the advanced price pi t on them by the Executive. At any r; te, 692,485 acres were selected in the ti n months, or not ve...
