TUBERCULAR SOLDIERS AID SOCIETY. An appeal was made on show day in aid of the above by a sale of .badges. The sum of £19 6/- was Realized, but the helpers found It difficult to enlist the sympathy of a number of show visitors. This is hard to understand as the cause was an exceptionally worthy one ana 'the badges'were only 6d. each. T he amount received was contributed mainly by local people, who are approached on every occasion an appeal is made, which means that generously disposed persons will be imposed upon until some means for assisting worthy causes, other than voluntary giving, are found. LIBERAL FEDERATION. | The annual general meeting of the I Murray Bridge branch was held at the Institute, Murray. Bridge on Monday, 7th March. The secretary read state ments of receipts and expenditure and reported that the branch had .gained in numbers. Mr. E. Nelson who had been president for many years, ten dered his resignation from that office. Appreciative remarks were made "con cerning Mr. Nelson's ever-ready assist ance, and his resignation was accepted with regret. The Hon. John Cowan, M.L.C. was elected-president and Mr. H. B. Kuchel as vice-president. Mr. Baseby was present from the Liberal' headquarters in Adelaide, and arrange ments were discussed and strong com (mittees formed for the coming elec tion campaign. Mr. Baseby reported that the candidates for the Murray district, Messrs. E. H. Hannaford, J. B. Randell, and the Hon. H. Homburg would address the electors at Murray Bridge, on 14th March, at Monteith on the 15th, and at Mypolonga on the 16th March.

The death of Mr, Bywaters, of Murray Bridge, recently, created profound sympathy for the widow and family, and many resident^ followed the remains to their last resting place to pay their last tribute to the departed. CHILDREN'S COURT. Mannum, Monday, March 7. (Before D. Shearer and G. H. Mann, J's.P.) A youth under 18, appeared on re mand charged with a, serious offence againBt a girl of 15. Mr. Chamberlain appeared for the prosecution and Mr. S. B. von' Doussa for the defence. After evidence for the prosecution had been tendered the defendant pleaded guilty and elected to be dealt with by the Court. He was bound over to bo of good behaviour for three years on a personal bond and one surety each of £25.
