Family Notices [Newspaper Article] — The Scrutineer and Berrima District Press — 1 November 1892

Death.   RIGBY.-Victor Austen, only son of Austen     Wright and Fanny Swinnerton Rigby, found drowned in a lagoon at Wingello, on the 29th October, 1892, aged 2 years and 11 weeks. Straws upon the stream of time, Bubbles on its ebbing wave, Dreaming of some life sublime, Drifting downward to the grave. Striving strongly after good, Fainting feebly by the way ;     Seeking spirit brotherhood   Sinking ever back to clay. So we come, and so we go.   As the passing of a breath ;   Shadowy drifting with time's flow. Down the maelstrom deeps of death.

Sad Death by Drowning of a little boy at Winge[?] [Newspaper Article] — The Scrutineer and Berrima District Press — 1 November 1892

Sad Death by Drowning of a little boy at Wingello.   Our Wingello correspondent telegraphed on Saturday as follows : — A little boy about   two years and three months old named Victor Rigby, son of Mr. Rigby residing at Wingello, strayed from his home on Friday morn- ing about ten o'clock. Immediately after the child was missed by his mother, and a search party was organised. Although about fifty people searched the surrounding bush and water holes no trace of the missing child was found until this morning, when his dead body was discovered by his mother and Mrs. Garbutt in a lagoon containing about four feet of water. Great sympathy is expressed by the community for Mr. and Mrs. Rigby who are only new arrivals in the district. Mr. Badgery, District Coroner, will hold an inquest this after- noon; full particulars in next report. We learn further that Mr. Rigby had but recently moved his family to Wingello, and the little boy   who met his death...
