The Hospital Overdraft. I « At the Mooroopna Hospital Board meeting, the president referred to the adjourned discussion on the financial position and the ways and means of reducing the "overdraft which now stood at ^3431. The secretary stated that he ex pected to receive ^"iioo or ^1200 during the month and this would bring the overdraft down to about the same as last year, which stood at ^1600 at the end of the financial year. The nurses' home had cost ^300, and the estimate was -less The Government "grant of ^320, the result of Shepparton, Dookie and Tatura committees should all be available this month. Mr. Furze—That is not so bad see ing that the Nurses Home cost £1000 extra. A meeting was being held at Nathalia this week. The president considered that there would be no time to make a special appeal betore the end of the financial year. The Tatura appeal 6hould result in over £100. That amount was practically in hand now and a good portion of the district bad yet to be canvassed...

■ • Departure of Mr and Mrs Kearney. A very pleasant evening was spent at theresidence of.Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Cobbledick, on Tuesday last, when the friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. |. Kearney met to wish them fare* well. Dancing and games were indulged in till after midnight and at the con clusion Mr. Cobbledictc spoke in eulogistic terms of their guest, who had .been excellent townsfolk and will begreitly missed, and wished them every happiness in their new home at Chelsta. Mr. R. J. Fairman and Mr. Govett also spoke and Mr. Kearney suitably responded on he ! half of his family and himself. % The gathering was brought to a close by all singing "Auld Sang Syne." On Thursday afternoon several of the ladies met at Mrs. Tobias's House and presented Mr. and Mrs. Kearney with a silver cake basket, and "Teddie" with a silver serviette ring as a memento of their stay in Nathalia, the presentations being made by Mrs. Parry in her usual happy style.
