Chicago , March 1 . —Judge Chetlain has freed the 17 defendants in the Bogle-Indiana crowd of coal operators and corporations on trial buore a jury in his court for alleged violation of the anti-trust act of l . SJl and for conspiracy to restrict trade and prevent competition . In a decision covering several closely written pages of copy , he decided in favor of the defendants motion and instructed the jury to return a verdict of not frailly against each and every defendant . The action of the court came as a surprise to many who have followed the case and was not relished by the prosecution , as it figured it had bnilded up a strong case . WASH THE BANK NOTES . [Newspaper Article] — Urbana Daily Courier — 15 March 1903
WASH THE BANK NOTES . Treuaiury OSlcial Advise * Bankers < o Clean Tht . m with Soap . and Water . If the bankers of the country only knew the great difference a little soap and water makes in a dirty bank note there would be more clean money in circulation , said a treasury official recently . If you have never seen the operation , just spread a soiled note out upon a marble slab and use a small brush that has been well soaped , and go to work scrubbing , lightly , of course . But a few strokes is necessary to secure a clean note . I give my personal attention to all the paper money brought into my household , and I tell you I fee ] repaid for the little work it causes . I can see every reason why there should be a person employed in the banking houses for this particular duty , continued the official , according to the New York Mail and Express ! Certainly the neglect in doing so gives ample cause for complaints from the patrons concerning the dirty , oily notes that ar...

The burglar bomb ought to be prepared for action by an enterprising firm , the bottles of assorted sizes and used according to directions , which might be blown into the glass . Havana , March ¦ * — Minister Squiers has returned here from a four days visit to the Isle of Pines , during which he made note of the reasons the American residents have for urging United States sovereignty over the island . He will report to Washington on the situation . He found the Americans to be extremely anxious for American sovereignty , the general contention being that they purchased land oi stock in the four American land companies operating in the island on the alleged representations of an American official that the United States would assume sovereignty over the Isle of Pines . A Sound Sleeper . Paul Kruger , in his memoirs , tells the story of a secretary whom he punished for being drunk , by tying him to a wagon wheel .
