Powder Mills Exploded. On Tuesday jnorning last, about 9 o'clock1', two explosions were heard in rap id succession,-jarring the earth and build ings of oar village to such an extent that everv man, woman and'child were instant ly upon the street to see what had hap pened. All eyesiwere immediately direct ed towards the works of the Austin Pow der Company, where a dense volume of whitish smoke, was seen rising and float ing away upon the air. The whole town wero forthwith in mo tion for the scene of disaster, where a thousand persons were soon congregated. It was found that the "corning" or kernel Kng housek containing some fifty kegs of blasting powder, had from some cause ex ploded, shattering the building to frag ments and completely demolishing and displacing'tho machinery. 'The fire was communicated to the Pressing Mill, con taining' some 25 kegs of powder, which was also instantly blown to atoms, and the heavy iron machinery thrown to a consid erable distance from its original ...
