I SCOTT COUNTY IilCKER. VOL. 5 BENTON, MO. SEPTEMBER 15, 1906. NO. 44 touched a tender spot. The Kicker's article of two weeks ago, exposing the methods resorted to in "carrying the county" of Stod dard for Russell, telling of Joe Rus sell opening campaign headquarters at Charleston, and showing that under such deplorable . condl tlons only men of great wealth could 'hope to reach congress, seems to have touched n tender spot. At any rate the three leading editorial in the following issue of the Charleston Enterprise would indicate as much. The Enterprise is owned by a man who was "born with a silver spoon 'in his mouth." He I what is known as a "good fellow," but if he has ever earned a mouth-full nf bread as the bible directs, there is no record of it. The editor of the paper in a capable man and "edits" at so much per "edit." Four year ago Mr. Russell was a 'Candidate for the nomination for congress and the Enterprise was his most vicious enemy.
