Norton Doings. Norton Notes. From our correspondent: One more week of farming weather and all is well and doing well. Another wedding occured here recently, the contracting parties being Miss Stella Bohanan and Mr. Ed. Neuby. Mr. Neuby is a young farmer of Puerto, and Miss Bohanan of Pleans. Will Rush tied the not. The stork visited the home of J. T. Anderwood and left an eleven pound girl. Mother and baby both, doing well. J. T. hasn't thoroughly recovered yet. F. A. McKenzie has just finish ed his dug out, and is diging a well. Fred McKenzie is busy breaking land for his brother F. A. J. A. Valintine of Tucumcari, better known here as Grand Pa Valintine, was among us this week and said: "Boys plant alfalfa and raise hogs." His grand son Rex, has a fine Durock Jersey that tips the scales at one-hundred and fifty pounds that was raised on alfalfa. Bonito Doings. Correspondence: Miss Conley is having n well drilled on her place. I see M. F. Walker driving a a new team to his buggy this week. The mixed land still plows fine and our farmers arc fast changing the color of their fields. Wm. B. Walker has returned to further improve his homestead. He says he likes this country bet ter than Kansas. I pity the young fellow that in vites the Taylor ladies to go to a party next time. Guessing from their remarks as they walked in home. Miss Conley's well drillers had to draw out 15 feet of water Tues day morning before going to work, at a depth of 53 feet. There is no use of being afraid of the water proposition in our neighborhood. The subscription list for our new school house is almost com pleted. QUAY COUNTY LEADS EVERY THING IN QUALITY OF BROOM CORN. Product Here Commands Top Price in Market. THIS WILL BE HEAVY SHIPPING POINT T. F. Major, of the firm of Whatler-Major & Co., broom man ufacturers of Chickasha, Okla., was in this city this week inspect ing the crop ot broom corn raised in this county, and has purchased the entire crop bailed by the Tu cumcari Public Service Co. In an interview with the News he said: It is without doubt some of the finest brush that I have seen raised anywhere in the United States. The only fault I find is that a part of the crop was improperly cured which caused it to rust. This is one of the best crops that can be planted on sod as it produces far the best results with the least amount of labor.
