MASONIC PICNIC AND BARBECUE Aspermont Entertains Large Crowds, Many Amusements, Event a Success from Every Viewpoint The Masonic Picnic and Bar- becue which was held here last Thursday and Friday was a tre- mendous success, and all who attended pronounce it the best ever. The co'ming event was usnured in as early as Tuesday evening-, when the Ferris Wheel. Steam Carousal and Big Outlaw Show, opened for business, and the var- ious other stands where lemon- ade, ice cream, hot hamberger, and other forms of enticing the nickel, the half dime, the twen- tieth part of a dollar from the pockets of ths spenders began barking their wares. Thursday, morning, the regu- lar two days program began with the Old Confederate Sold- iers in charge. His oppon- ent, now under arrest in San Luis. Potosi, receiving only about two per cent, of the votes cast. Diaz assended to the presiden- cy of Mexico in 1884, and at once began an aggressive and progressive administration of the affairs of state. Himself an anti-Catholic, he has to a great degree overthrown the domina- tion of catholicism in that repub- lic. His attitude toward the in- vestment of foreign capital in the commercial development of Mexico has been very marked.
