P. and A. Association forfNarromine. A movement is on foot for the es tablishment of a' Pastoral and Agri cultural Society at Nun online. Jniig^d by the fact that Komcihing over £30' in aid of this object, was collected in a few minutes, there seems no r- ason to doubt that the project bids fair to catch, on aud next year if. the move ment is not allowed to nag suou'd ' see the first display of the Narroraine District Pastoral and Agricultural Society. To accomplish this means a good. lot of trork. First there is the ground to be got, trustees appointed, ! nest fencing and general improve ments such as erection of cattle, sheep, * and horse pens, machin ery sheds, and grandstand, and then, or lather first of all, the money to do these tilings must be provided, We started by saying a movement is on foot.. It originated in one or two district farmers making a hurried canvass and in a few minutes obtain ing a sum of £30. Jt was not an organised movement and was only made on the epm' of...

Vagrant Notes. THE HALF-HOLIDAY SPORTS. [Newspaper Article] — Narromine News and Trangie Advocate — 2 June 1899

'Vagrant Notes, THE HALF-HQLIDAY SPORTS. Considering the. lateness of the season, the Half Holiday Atsociation are to be congralulated on having such a fine day for their annual sports, for though, now and then, as the sun hid behind a passing cloud, it was rather chilly, taken as a whole, it was all that could be desired. # Cjjr feature of tht- day was the procession, headed by the Narromine Brass Band, whose playing, consider ing the comparatively brief period of its existence, was the subject of fa vourable somment. .*? Closely following the Band, were the members of the Half-Holiday commit:ee, whose stalwart figures and fiercely commercial countenances showed that they were both able and willing to die fiercely fighting for their own and their employers' cause. The banner of the Association was conspicuous by its nbsencc, but it is now in ihe hands of a local artist, and we understand will float in the breeze, in all its prismatic glory, at next year's procession. The design, of...

Sleath is virile, volcania and vehement. He is, like his fellow countryman, Premier Reid, very keenly- witted abd well equipped ' witb the weapon of irony, Ferguson is a pointed epigrammatic and argu mentative speaker. Mr. Gerald B. Campbell of the ' Australian Club' has discovered ; another anti-Federal mare's nest. It. geems that because Buenos Ayres was declared the capital and the Scat of . Government for the Argentine Republic until a suitable site for a new capital was determined on by tbe Legislature 40 years ago, and is still the capital and the sent of Government ? Melbourne will remain ^the Federal capital of Federated' Australia. Now, that fear breaks in two directions at ^ ouce.
