MELBOURNE WOOL SALES. Thursday, January 30. The New Zealand Loah and Mercantile AGBNor Co., Limited,' Melbourne, continued the wool sales to-day, submitting a catalogue of 1800 balea, to a good attendance of buyers. Com* petition was animated at the level of valnos likely established, and a satisfactory clearance was made. Greasy realised up to 8£d, and scoured 16d per lb. respectively. Our next sale will be held about three weeks hence. Dalgety and Co. Limited report : — At our wool sale to-day we offered 1450 bales before a full attendance of buvera who competed with great animation for all descriptions of wool. Good greasy and scoured merino being in especially strong request, the former ranging np to 9d per lb while town scoured merino brought 15}d. We report the market extremely firm. The improving tendency advised from London having been fully reflected here. We sold practically the whole catalogue at highly satis factory prices.

A. A. PJCGIN AND GO.'S REPORT. Messrs. A. A. Figgin and Co. report holding their ordinary fortnightly gale as. abi-vo on. Saturday 25th inst. We submitted a full cata logue comprisiner several nice lines of merino pelts, which met a ready sale at advanced rates. Bidding for every lot were brisk throughout, and we have to report obtaining the highest price realised this reason fcr a line of merino pelts, from the boiling-down works, which brought 3$d per lb. Other boiling-down lota sold well in proportion at 3Jd to 3Jd per lb. Good sound conditioned stationed skins made 3d, medium, 2£d to 2£d. OrosRbred pelts were not in demand and ahowed a decline. Tallow. — We have cleared BeveraTiarge lineB at metropolitan values. The benefit of the recant hardening of the market having been obtained, values now are weaker. ? Thwaites and Co. report having held their usual monthly sale at Tallangatta on Satur day last, when they yarded 220 head of cattle to a good attendance of buyers. ALBURY WOOL, HIDE, SKIN, AND TALLOW MARKET. The Biverina Wool, Hide, and Pbodtjoe Co. Ltd. report : — We held our regular aale on Friday, 24th inst., when we submitted an attrac tive catalogue to a good attendance of buy era. We sold 15 bales and 30 Backs wool, 4000 eheep skins, 250 hides, 10 tons tallow, together with a fair supply of marsupials, &o. The wool for ward was chiefly odd lota of Btragglera, lambs, and oddments. Mixed fleeces sold to 6£d per lb, pieces to 4-Jd, bellies 3.}d, locks to 2d. Sheep skins and pelts were in good demand at late rates. Full-woolled sold to 6d per lb, pelva (beat) to 3£1 per lb, medium 2Jd to 3d per lb, light 2d to 2Ji, weevily and damaged from Id to 21 per lb. The hide market displayed a re covery on late ratea of ^d to f 1 per lb. Heavies 60'ibs to 701bs sold to 3|d, medium 501bB to 2Jd, light 25(bB to 401bs 2|d to 2£d perlb.
