What People Say. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 25 December 1891

What People Say. 'Truth in stranger than Fiction,' so people say, but such truth as wo received from T. Channon, Esq., Photographer, Nowra, N.S.W., is only a sample of what comes to hand by every mail from all parts of Australia. Mr. Channon speaks for himself ' I was one of the first attacked by La Grippe at Nowra. Tho symptoms — snoezing, running at nose, weak, watery eyes, frontal headache, as if the brain wanted to- press througli, tho pain was almost constant, restless sleep, poor appetite, constipation, foul tongue, constant expoctoration of yellow greenish phlegm, burning prickling feeling in the chest, great weakness and pain at the nape of tho neck, water— dark brown, I tried to rise but was too weak, and had to lie down again. Whilst jit tho worst, I read of the curative properties of Clements Tonic, and was induced to try it, although sceptical about advertised remedies- : after a few doses I certainly felt better, so much that I wrote 'you, asking advice, which you promp...

Rheumatism and Gout. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 25 December 1891

?Rheumatism and Goat. Rheumatism is a peculiar condition of the system, in which tho blood is acid, or contains an excessive amount of lactic and uric acids. It wijlj therefore, bo at once apparent that rheumatism is not a disease, but a Bvmnbom of a disease, viz.. defective kidney and liver -action, and that its removal depends upon the restoration of the kidneys and liver to their proper functions. When the blood becomes sur charged with those acids, wo have the form known as acute- rheumatism, accom panied by inflammation, fever, swelling of the joints, quick pulse, hot dry skin, and highly colored scanty water, with almost invariably a deposit of brickdusfc. When these acids settle- as a solid substance in tho joints, enlarging the...
