Farmers Co-operative Society. [Newspaper Article] — Koroit Sentinel and Tower Hill Advocate — 17 October 1914

Farmers Co-operative Society. There was a fair attendance at the half-yearly meeting of the Koroit and Tower Hill Farmers' Co-operative Society on Thursday evening, the chairman of directors, Mr P. Crowe, presiding. The directors report and balance-sheet, which has already appeared in these columns was received, and the chairman invited questions thereon. Mr J. Wilkinson enquired whether the item, income tax, £21, was payment on the actual profit for the whole year. Mr W. J. Stevenson said that was the amount paid on the actual profit for theyear. They wrote to the Commissioner of Income Tax, Mr T. Prout Webb, and endeavoured to persuade him that it was simply de terred payment, and not profit. His reply was that if no profit was shown no tax would have to be paid. Where it was shown as profit it was subject to tax. The chairman said he had much pleasure in moving the adoption of the balance sheet. He had to apologise for four of the directors, Messrs Kelly, Kevan, Muga vin and O'Kc...

Koroit Butter Factory. DIRECTORS' REPORT. [Newspaper Article] — Koroit Sentinel and Tower Hill Advocate — 17 October 1914

Koroit Butter Factory. DIRECTORS' REPORT. To the Shareholders.-In pre senting to you the Twenty-Fifth Annual Report and Statements of your Company we are much pleased to be able to inform you that, allowing for the unfavorable dairying conditions of the past year, your Company has well maintained its position. A comparison of the business transacted during the year just closed with that of the previous one reveals the fact that for the year 1913-14 less milk by 309,836 gallons was received than in the year 1912-13, but the cream supply for 1913-14 exceeds that for 1912 13 by 234,775lbs., and as a pound of cream from a butter fat point of view was just about equal to a gallon of milk the falling off in the output was slight. The prices received in London and Melbourne for butter were 118.97 shillings and 115.18 shil lings per cwt. respectively. These prices exceed those of the previ ous year by approximately 2s. per cwt. The surplus for the year is £664 Us 8d. Your Directors re comme...

. Sunday Corner. BY " K.VDIATOH." God is identified in the experiences of his saints. Their pangs, and tears, ami wailing hours are his. When man's sin overshadowed para dise, the bow of promise shone. The big drops cf sorrow havo to patter on our souls before we can realize all that God is prepared to be to us. Jesus, He is the way, by which we may pass from the confusion of Isabel to tho love of Pcntecost, and the one speech of heaven There is no loneliness to the soul who is one with God. We can never give up for God, with out receiving in this lifo more than we gave. We have a right tn the test ill all good things, sinco thoy arc our Fathers, and wo are heirs'of God, joiut-heirs with Christ.
