AGRICULTURAL NOTES. [Newspaper Article] — Kyabram Union — 30 June 1887

AGBIClrLTUBALi NOTES. Excluding the Western District; there is overyproepeotof tbeyearl887beiogoneoftthe mdst prosperous the farmees and graziers of Viotoria have experienced for a long time. The autumn cemmenced with molast weather, and farmers were enabled to prepare their land for.the seed much earlier than usual. Bowing, consequently, commenced in some of the early districts in the month of April, and by the middle of May the greater por tion of the wheat crop had been all put in. Heavy rains descending almost every alter. nate week, the ground has been soaked down to the subsoil, and the roots of the growing cropi have by this time penetrated downwards to a suficient depth to firmly establish the plants. These remarks apply prinolpallyito our wheat-growing areas, for, singularly enough, this season the rainfall has been mcch heavier in the districts sub ject to the drought than in the rich fertile counties of the west, where until last summer landholders had never an occsslon t...
