ADVERTISING.-A curious and un expected illustration of the commer cial; advantage of advertising is af forded by an incident in the Liverpool Town Council. For many years, per formances on the organ at St. George's Hall have been given twice a week by Mr. ~W, T. Best. Some months ago the Corporation, in a fit of economy, agreed to discontinue the short adver tisement published in the three daily newspapers of the town.
