MlaioEY Doos.-There are a great many complaints regarding the number of mangey dogs which hannt the Boun dary-road, annoying the residents, and communicating their cutaneous disorder to their caninebrothren. It appears the dog-cart-men will not trouble to pick up these brutes, hobut they should certainly receive peremptory-orders-to-capture them, as the presence of scrofolous curs inathe streets is highly undesirable both on general and sanitary grounds. CHAPPED HANDS. [Newspaper Article] — North Melbourne Courier and West Melbourne Advertiser — 29 May 1896

CIIAPPED HANDS.--AS the winter ap proaches it will be prudent to be prepared with a remedy for this unpleasant condi tion of the skin. Glycerine is the uni versal remedy generally recommended, but this if used alone, will produce severe inflammation on some skins : therefore, glycerine should never be used except in combination with rose water or some other suitable diluent. The proportion should be-i1 part glycerine to 3 parts of rose water. In severe eases, when small fissures appear, 5 grains of boric acid to the ounce of glycerine and rose water is a beneficial addition. Chaps can generally be prevented by thoroughly drying tile skin, but as the time to do this cannot always bespared, a dropor twoofglycerine should be rubbed over the hands while they are damp, will have the same effect. The glycerine jelly to be obtained of the chemists is very useful for domestic pur poses, being much more cleanly, and sufficiently diluted to ensure absence of smarting. The camphor ball is also...
