EDEN, TWOFOLD BAY. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Gazette and Eden District or Southern Coast Advertiser — 7 July 1866

EDEN, TWOFOLD BAY. (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.) The town is now so dull that I really cannot find ma- terial for a letter ; as to reporting anything of any inte- rest your readers.—it is utterly impossible. I could rea- dily fill sheets with an account of town gossip, but the whole of it is so composed of scandal, ill-natured remarks, unkind criticisms, unneighbourly feelings, false reports, and uncharitable insinuations, that it would neither adorn your columns, nor reflect any credit on the gossipers. So I will just pick out a few items and leave the rest to your readers imagination. It is stated that the road between here and Panbula is at once to be thoroughly repaired; and I have also heard a statement that the present road is to be abandoned, and another formed nearer the coast, thereby escaping the long heavy drag up the Sandy Hill, and also two other very bad places—Deep Creek and Tobacco Hollow.   The Towamba road is also about to undergo further im- provements, I...
