TRAINS COLLIDE AT MONTEIT"-1. Two trains collided in the Monteith railway station on Tuesday morning, and as a result, tour workmen were in jured, none seriously. A train con veying workmen to Tailem Bend left Murray Bridge at 6 30- and at about five minutes to 7 o'clock ran into the rear of" a freight train standing in the Monteith station.' It 'is stated that neither the air brake nor the hand J brake would act. The brakevan of-'1 tue goods train was completely j smashed. Those injured were:— Mi. VAWSER, injuries to back. GENERAL NEWS. A BIRTHDAY PARTY. On Sunday afternoon Mrs, H. G. Earls entertained a number of little friends at her home, Murray Terrace, the occasion being the fifth anniver sary of her little daughter, -Shirley's birthday. A very pleasant afternoor was spent in indoor and outdoor games, recitations, and singing. MOUNT PLEASANT. The Rev. Robert Mitchell, occupied tlie pulpit at both services last Sunday at the j'resbyterian Cuurch, and was .wonderfully vigorous for his age, and preached dne spiritual sermons. It is interesting to know tuat as a boy 60 years ago, .dr. Mitchell , attended as a worshipper under the first minister Mr. Roddick, who is hurled under a gum tree in the cburcb yard and to whose memory a stone Is erected, and also a beautiful memorial window in the church. Mr. Mitchell at the ser vices feelingly referred to his early association here and the memories connected with those who sat in the p;\v- in those days, and whose names are inscribed on the memorial win dows of the church. Mr. Mitchell has done fine work in the past as a pioneer Inland missionary, and is spoken of as the "grand old man of the Presbyterian Church In this State."
