COUNTRY NEWS. FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. STONEY POINT, February 26. PLENTY of rain has fallen here, and con sequently grass and water are plentiful. The town is improving apace. Mr. G. J. Fitz-Walter's new hotel is fast approaching completion, and he expects to be able to commence business there next month. It is a large and commodious building, and will be the best out west. We bad a match yesterday for a half-mile spin between Mr. R. Parker's br g Noco, and Mr. J. A. Henderson's Sauerkraut for £20. Noco ran outside the course, and Sauerkraut won. They ran another race for £10 aside, when Noco won easily. I Mr. Scanlan, of Springfield, starts a mob of 400 fats for Adelaide next week. Every 1 one is well pleaded with the success of the I Strathlcven experiment.
