BOROUGH COUNCIL. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Municipal Council was held at the Chambers on Wednesday last, the following being present, viz. — the Mayor (Mr. Daniell) in the chair, Aldermen Hardwick, Gray, Macfarlane, Bloxham, Roche, and Morrisor, the Council Clerk, Mr. Allison, and the Inspector of Nuisances. PETITION. After the minutes had been confirmed, a petition was read from ten hotel-keepers requesting that they might be permitted to retain the seats outside their houses, as being a convenience rather than a nuisance to the public. The Mayor said if this were granted it might lead to complications with other business people who might wish to trespass upon the pathway.
