Horse Thieves Captured Sheriff Street a.nd Posse Capture Horse Thief Jail Breakers From DeJhtxrt. Tied Down Jailor and Gagged Him. Sheriff J. A. Street and Deputy Jas. Bell and John Cadger, City Marshal, a few nights ago cap tured the horse thieves who broke jail at Dalhart on December 25th last. They made their escape by overpowering the jailor and gag ging him. They were captured 16 miles south of Tucumcari while at their camp fire at night. The ot ficers approached the camp from three directions and came upon them while one was rendering a violin solo to the delight of his open air audience. Earnest Wheeler, Wealthy Stock meal of Endcc shoots Mrs. Bunvum, and then turns Gun on him self and suicides. INFATUATION FOR WOMAN SUPPOSED TO BE CAUSE. Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Endee, occurred a murder and a suicide. Earnest Wheeler a wealthy stock man, shot Mrs. Bart Burnum twice through the breast and through either arm, killing her instantly, and then blew out his own brains, the two bodies falling side by side in front of the ranch door. The story told by those who were witnesses to the end of the' tragedy is as fol lows: "A rancher by the name of Gib son stopped at the home of Wheeler to see Burnum's brother who was at the time sick in a room of the residence, next that in which the shooting occurred. S&i Jon Jottings. W. D. Bennett and son Walter, are putting up a Land Office in San Jon. Walter is prepared to take land filings and final proofs for the settler. That will save some of us a thirty mile drive when we are ready to prove up. The Mundel Brothers have lum ber on the ground for a real estate office. It will go up in the near future. The ware-room to the New Hard ware Store, is almost completed and work is begun on the main building. It makes San Jon put on quite a prosperous air. Lytle Barrett and Miss Gertrude Robinson were married in Tucum cari Tuesday January 14th. The Young Men's Club was or ganized Tuesday night at the Pres byterian Church, which is to bo conducted along the lines of a V. M. C. A., and the club proposes to establish a Y. M. C.
