Nursing home referrals available Free nursing home inforrinition and referrals are available to th£ public under a program operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. By calling 974-7779, the public will receive computerized information on licensed skilled nursing facilities. This includes the name of specific nursing homes in particular areas and information relating to costs, staffing patterns, diets and 'lealth programs, compliance with state regulations, types of patients accepted, religious services and languages spoken. The Nursing Home Information and Referral Service is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Exceptional games set March 22 The annual Los Angeles County Exceptional Games will be held Saturday, March 22, at California State University, Los Angeles from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The games, designed for physically handicapped young people six years and older, are sponsored annually by the County's Department of Parks and Recreation and the Physical Education Department of the University. In addition to swimming and track meter races, a shot put and discus throw, contests will include an obstacle race for those in manual and electric wheelchairs, a bean bag toss and frisbee toss. Entry and registration forms have been mailed to schools and County agencies. Forms also may be obtained at county parks or by calling 744-4397. All forms must be returned to the Parks and Recreation Department by Feb. 29.

Seniors club plans installation ceremony The City Terrace Seniors Social Club, which meets at the City Terrace Park on Thursdays, at-11:00 a.m. invites all members, and neighbors to attend installation celebration on Saturday February 23, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the recreation oall of the City Terrace Park, 1126 N. Hazard Ave., L.A. The club is asking for a donation of $3 which includes lunch and the dance. Lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with music for dancing following from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Singer ‘La Prieta Caldera' has consented to be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the afternoon. Ms. Elena Alvarado and her dancing group will perform. Music for dancing will be provided by “The Consentidos". Manuel Balderrama, president of the East Los Angeles Seniors Club will participate in the installation. The City Terrace Seniors Social Club meets Thursdays at 11 at the City Terrace Park. Fifth grade celebrates New Year’s Fifth grade students at Eastman Ave. School celebrated Chinese New Year through discussions, art and food. The students, in Annette Rodriguez’s class, are all Hispanics. Class members hung paper lanterns in good luck colors of red and orange, and house cleaned desks, floors and chalkboards for the beginning of the New Year celebration Feb. 16. With Chinese music playing In the background, wantons were made in the classroom. Chinese robes were worn during the day by Rodriguez and her two reporters, Lourdes Tirado and Francisco Sanchez, who shared their research with the class.

Mexico vs. US in Davis Cup round On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22, 23 and 24, Mexico will face the United States in the North American Zone challenge for the Davis Cup. The matches Will be telecast live from Rafael Osuna Stadium in Mexico City on KMEX-TV. The American team is headed by John McEnroe, the world’s second ranked single’s player and the veteran international star, Vitas Gerulaitas. Mexico's team features Haul Ramirez who forms part of the top doubles team in the world. Friday's action will run live from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Saturday, the live telecast will air from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The action will conclude with the Sunday telecast from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

Kennedy Elementary is scheduled for repainting and refinishing of the exterior trim of the school buildings, (classrooms, administration, and multipurpose room). The Title I parent advisory council will have its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m., in the school auditorium. A major topic for discussion will be the 1880/81 school year compensatory education budget.
