C. 25 DECATUR BAPTIST 0 FLASHING BACKS LEAD RAMS Texas Wesleyan Rams, led by Hall Splawn and IfVlonroe McCarty, won their second game of the year when they defeated the Decatur College In- dians Friday night at Decatur, by the score of 25 to 0. The Rams had some difficulty at first with the Decatur crew, but the constant running by Splawn and the passing of McCarty soon wore the Indians down. The first touchdown for the Rams came in the latter part of the first quarter. McCarty passed to Splawn, who raced twenty yards for a touch- down. tl wasn't as easy as it sounds though, because the ball was almost grounded by an enemy back. Splawn haying picked it up just before' it hit the ground. McCarty failed to con- vert. The second marker came in the sec- ond quarter. McCarty passed about fifteen yards into the waiting hands of Bob Isbell, who was standing...

The Rambler November 24, 1999 11 —— I J. Lee Whittington Director of MBA Program As we approach the end of another semester our thoughts turn to graduation-commencement--the beginning of the next phase in the lives of our stu dents. As graduation approaches we also prepare for another time of ectebration-the robing ceremony. For me, the robing ceremony is the ultimate Wesleyan Moment. Actually it is the culmination of several Wesleyan Moments-those moments when we connect with our students; special connections that leave all of us changed. Moments that formed a bond, moments that made a difference. I've been keeping track of these since 1 came to Wesleyan in the Fall of 1996. The first one occurred during the first week of class] 1 ran into two fresh- men, both named Stacy, on a "scavenger hut" trying to locate the various buildings and get signatures from the various deans. As we were all "freshmen" at the time, we struggled together to figure out where the various buildings were. ...

Not wanting to sit through what looked like an awful film, I stalled for tune. "1 ley here's a pass to some play," 1 said. "Maybe 1 should review this instead." They agreed. I left feeling happy and proud of myself. Then 1 looked at the pass. "Oh man, this looks like some dippy chick play," 1 thought. Fortunately, that is not the case. The Last Night of Ballyhoo, while it does feature romance, is one of the funniest things going right now. Ballyhoo, written by Driving Miss Daisy playwright Alfred Uhry, occurs in Atlanta at the time of Gone With the Wind's premiere and the early days of World War II. It follows the lives of upper- class Jewish people longing for acceptance in proper society and somewhat embar- rassed by their Jewishness. They replace their signs of heritage with Christmas trees, upscale addresses and priva...

Dave's MIA J Who should keep his seat warm ? Julie King MANAGING EDITOR Most of us are old enough to remember when Johnny Carson was host of the Tonight Show. What may have escaped our col- lective memories is that when Johnny was sick or on vacation or getting married for the 50th time, he had guest hosts. Jay Leno was the only guest host Johnny had in the last few years of his reign. Garry Shandling, Bob Newhart and Jerry'Lewis did their bit, too. And Joan Rivers did it until Johnny fired her. And now, David Letterman, who did guest stints for Johnny 51 times, won't be on The Late Show for months while he recov- ers from quintuple heart bypass surgery (that's gotta hurt). Do we really want Dave's reruns to last through Spring Break? I didn't think so. That's why a guest host, or hosts, would be the perfect solution. But who should fill the spot? Jerry Seinfeld? He's still basking in the glow of wedded bliss. Regis Philbin? Good grief, he's everywhere! No, I've got some sugges- tio...
