VOL. 35 Boyd's Comments By DON BOYD Now that mid-semester exams are oer a good many of us are praying that the Registrar's office will be a little bit more than usually slow about sending out our grade cards If they wait long enough maj.be we can get home foi Thanksgiving and giab the mail befoie our families have a chance at it. Thus we can we hope keep them from finding out how lazy (or busy with everything besides studying) we've been these nine weeks Speaking of grades (and who doesn't these days') what about the idea that good or at least passing grades are among the qualifications for student leader- ship? This is a question which may well be of general interest and McMuiry's student government leaders have been talking about it for quite a while. The Judges brought it up: Shouldn't McMurry as a policy jequire its student leadcis to maintain the 1 0 grade average which they must have to qualify fn- rVction? The Senate said "yes" uani- mously. They sent th...

THE WAR WHOOP Friday November 22 19S7 f age 2 Glimpse of By CONRAD Zwish' And everybody ducks There are many things in the air nowadays literally Such ob- jects as Sputniks Eggniks. and saucers seem to be causing much controversy and many different attitudes in the world Perhaps the most debated sub- ject in our own land concerns the importance (or unimportance?) of Russia's stepped-up scientific ad- vancement especially culminat- ing in the launching of their two satellites Are we lealy very far behind Russia in our missile program? Perhaps the answer to this ques- tion could be more properly an- swered if our research and launch set-up were not divided among the blanches of our aimed forces I'ltstdent Eisenhowei made his reply to the anxious and some- what disturbed U. Boyd's Comments By DON BOYD After our last column was written but before it was pub- lished the Senate and the Student Council met together in a joint session That's all to the good we say. We're glad they wanted to get together and iron out some cam- pus problems as a co-operative ventuic Each group now is working toward an understanding of the other's problems and atti- tudes The Senate started as a sort of stepchild with a membership big enough to do a lot of the hard work for the Student Association but without enough power to do anything much on its own It has grown stronger rapidly and this year can be the Senate's best year. Much of the work of the Tribe's student government goes on be- hind the scenes where most stu- dents have little chance to see it Contraiy to the belief of some we don't mind giving credit where credit is due and this is one such place The Indians are fortunate in having haid-working student leaders who are doing their best to work out students' problems ...
