Ireland's Land' Schlm,. A WAY OUtT OF A IIIJADLOCK. STRIKING 1FTGURE1S. The rcmarkable financial andadse in which the British Government Ims.teon landled by the scheme for enabling the Irish peasantry to pcquire the free hold cf their farms is worthy of more -steedP:d dee,-iptoon than was prac ticable within the limits of the cahled sumnnry of Mr. Birdell's mw pro posals (writes the Landon correnpoll --unt of the Meltoourne "Age"). The first sta7gering fact disclosed by remnt eo perst investigation is that the total amount re?uired for the purchase of the land from tlse estate owners cili be £l18011000, 0, or an increase of £A0,000,000 upon the calculationa made In connection with the Wyndsam Act of 1903. The Govemnment' decision to provide for the acquisition of grs lands is appaeniltly the chici , of this vast addition to the ori3inal estimate. OCving to the abnormal conditions of I,? lodoecn monoey market, the £30, 300,000 of the 22 per cent Irish stock issued ih 1903 yielded cni...
