RIFLE SHOOTING. The King's Birthday holiday on Mon day last gave the Rushworth iifleclub the opportunity for a full day's shooting, and a handicap competition was arranged over 300, 500 and 600 yards for the deputy captain's trophy, and the scores made were also counted for a scratch match between teams selected on the range by the captain and deputy captain. The weather conditions were perfect, and, although possibles were not made, some very fine shooting was shown by Captain Parrott and the secretary, Mr J. S. Golds worthy, the former scoring 33, 34, 34, and the latter 33, 33, 34. Captain Par rott's 101 off the rifle is believed to be a record for the range. These two fine scores won the first and second prizes, A. Dnke securing third prize, also reaching the possible, with his handicap. Duke scored consistently, and is showing im provement. Seventeen members com peted, having lunch on the range. "The competition was most interesting, and it is to be hoped that other opportuniti ...
