FROM VARIOUS SOURCES. FAK.M LIFE IN LOUISIANA, A axoup of commercials were spin oin« yarns on the subject of hospital ity, when one, a little Virginian with i humorous eye and a delightful drawl, toolt up his parable thus: — 1 was down in Louisiana last month travellin' 'cross country with S. J, Carey (the si'ine being Stonewall Jack son C. at your service) when we kind er got lost in a mighty lonesome sort Df road just about dark. We rode lions a right good piece after sun iown, and when we saw a light ahead, [ tell you it looked first rate. We irove up to the light, flndin' 'twas a house, and when I hollered like a lost ■salt the man came out and we asked him to take us in for the night. He looked at us mighty hard, then said, "Wal, I reckon I can stand it if you kin." So we unhitched, went in. and found 'twas only a two-roomed shan ty and just swarmin' with children, lie had six, from four to eleven years old., and as there didn't seem to be but one bed, me an' Stony was won deri...

THE STIRLING CONCERT [Newspaper Article] — Coleraine Albion and Western Advertiser — 16 March 1914

THE STIRLING CONCERT The record thunderstorm of Tues day last which flooded the streets just at the time when people would have made their way to the Me chanics' Hall to hear the Stirling concert did not lead to the aband vnent of the entertainment. In spite of the drenching and violent rains" about sixty people .assembled at the hall, and the performers (who never contemplated that under the extreme circumstances anyone wonld be pre sent) hearing that a small audience was auxious to hear them, went to the hall by cab and gave a delightful programme, causing the recalls to be very demonstrative and frequent. Madame Stirling sang " Three Irishes," " Doun the Burn," "One Morning, oh, so Early," " It was a Song you Sang Me," and " Aunie Laurie." The items of Miss May Stirling were, " Lo, Hear the Gentle Lark," "The Cuckoo," "I'm Ower Young," " Big Lady Moon," " The Calico Dress," and " Killarney."
