At abonthalf-past 8 o'clock the slarm of fire was rang from the fire brigade .house, and it was dis co-rered that a "wooden and iron cottage at the north end of Grant-street -was on fire. The house was occupied by Thomas "Watson, recently s. buUock driver, but now a splitter at Lske Boort, and had been taken by him for the pur pose of accommodating his wife during her approaching confinement, there being neither -medical aid nor other necessaries at Boort. Watson was at Boort, and Mrs. Watson was the sole occupant of the house.
