Melt some tallow, and, while il is hot, put in some scraps of rubber from i\)d rubber shoes or boots, lie eaieful to select rubber that is free from cloth. Put in as much of the rubber as the tallow will absorb. Stir freely while it is melting, and keep it away from any flames. Allow it to cool and set away for future use. Take enough for immediate use an<l warm it sufficiently so that it may be applied with a brush.

The following figures showed that whilst Germany secured the hulk of Binft' tho preceding week, London thkea pride of place this week :—By the "Marutfiiu" 1,001 cases were sent 10 London ; by the "s.s. Mol Inurne" cases went for Ham burg, Germany—a total of 'JSP7 cases. The week was a very trying one for the horses and drivers, it speaks well for tho m»n's care that only ono horeo showed signs of aiouness.
