WOMAN'S WORLD. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Echo — 15 August 1913

WOMAN'S WORLD. (By "Maisie.") It is the shape of the face which should influcncc the choice in earrings. A long facc de mands short earrings; a round face is much improved when long, earrings are worn. None but the youthful should wear round earrings. Blue earrings in tur quoise or sapphire are becom ing to'. bluc-cyed women, but in all cases the jewels in the ears should match others worn at the same tune. For this reason many women chose pearl and ■ diamond drops anil confine them selves to these stones only. It is hazardous to put on coral, ear rings when' the pale pink makes too acute a challenge to the color of the slcin. The deeper red coral emphasises a too ruddy or a yellow tint and is in consc quencc a cTioice only to be made at discretion. Twenty years ago. or a little more, women golfers were al most unknown. Their invasion of the golf links in-England in the early eighties was very un popular, and if such'an idea had even been whispered then that a ladies' golf champions...

STATE POLITICAL POINTERS. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Echo — 15 August 1913

STATE POLITICAL POINTERS. (By "Elector.") There was a simplicity about Beeby's deferfce of himself in the Assembly which one would hard ly have expected from such an old hand as the ex-Minister for Lands and Labor, He gave everything away, including him self and his former colleagues. He may have enjoyed the pro cess himself but certainly the Holman Party did not and they listened to his utterances with a pained silence that uroved how hard they were hit. How they must have wished that they had .worked a bit harder at the first Blayney election, and by doing so knocked Beeby out of the second ballot. Their failure to do this brought the lash of the Labor journal, "The Worker,'i over their shoulders at the time, and has now resulted in a violent critic, who knows the inside running of the caucus, appearing on the scene. When Beeby let the cat out of the bag with regard to the per petual leases at Yanko, and the manner in which the land was valued, the opposition members and the gener...

COURSING CLUB. The Railway Stake. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Echo — 15 August 1913

COURSING CLUB. Tho Railway Stake. The Railway stake of the To (.umwal Coursing Club did not at tract :i very large nomination on. Wednesday, only eight dogs go ing into the slips. This is one of tlie poorest nominations the club has experienced, but strange to say, the nominations are meagre this season ripht throughout the coursing districts in this part of State, and also in the Goulburji Valley, with possibly one or two exceptions. A start was not made until after lunch; and as on previous occasions, good strong hares were found on Messrs. Quirk Bros'. "Cocomar" properly. The Messrs. Quirk arc good sportsmen, and the thanks of the club arc due to them for their generosity in allowing the use of their paddocks, which arc handy to the town, and where hares arc always to he found in plenty. As for the former three meetings this season Mr. M. Shiels gave every satisfaction as judge, and Mr. T. Powell, snr., officiated cfficicntlv as slipper. The weather was fine and the attend ance g...
