gMti . -rout / Jfitefedwn TPEE VIEWS OF THE SAME THINGS . I . —FROM MR . JONES STANDPOINT . John Smith and I were close friends . So we are still . John has a sister . I have a wile . His possession came to him In the ordinary course of nature . Mine came to me by the extraordinary process of courtship . We are now joint proprietors ; hia natural claim and my vested right being In one and the same individual . I used once to think her a pretty little simpleton , as her brother John Bald she was . My appreciation of Ler beauty remains unchanged . But as to ber simplicity , I am tn progress of conversion . And I am free to confess that when the honey-moon , now at its height , is fairly over , I shall probably be ready to concede that she ls as wise as she Is good , and as good as she is pretty . If site can be deemed foolish , it Is fo . marrying t __ . Out of respect for her , I am determined to set that question at rest . I will vindicate her wisdom , by proving myself a model husb...

AGRICULTURAL [Newspaper Article] — Western Rural — 6 June 1868

AGRICULTURAL Hotes and Suggestions for June . There are generally , two favorable spells for seed-sowing and planting every spring , early and ; late : Fanners who are well up with their work and 1 have the soil fit for seed early ln the Spring , can sow early and harvest early also . Early , crops cover the ground and protect the roots of the plant before the heat of summer dries up all moisture from the surface of the soil . Tillage cannot be satisfactorily carried on unless land is naturally or artificially drained . It is useless to gow seed of any kind in soil which is saturated with water , for If ; lt does not rot , it will not vegetate until the excessive moisture has been removed by tlie slow process of evaporation . A heavy cereal crop cannot . be raised unless ln soil which is perfectly free . from weeds , thoroughly drained , and brought into good tilth with the plow , cultivator and roller .. There Is scarcely anything , about the farm of more importance , tbat the main...
