MAH. BAS LOBT.-A large bog of newspapers, being a portion of the Bris bane wail, did not arrice on Saturday last. It was supposed to have been left at Gladstone, and the Customs Bont was sent there f.r it, but it was found thiit the bag had not been left at Gladstone. MR. HERBERT ts now on bis tvay to Í Rockhampton, and Mr. Jardine started 1 f«>r Banana yesterday morning to meet him. SCHOOL OP ARTS-The first discus- sion in connection with the School of Arts Debating Class came «ff on Wed- nesday evening. Subject :-" Are tram- ways or Hallways preferable for Queens- land." The debate was opened by Mr. Hali, who read * paper ia favour of Tramways. Some discussion ensued, but there was a dearth of speakers, and the debate was adjourned to that night fortnight, ia order to give greater pub- licity to the meeting. Mr Pybus will rdsume the debate.
