School of Arts last Thursday night The President (Miss Ii, MAarti) occupied the chair and there were some. thirty three menibers present:. The Pi'esident asked 'the girls to make a decision i?e uniforms and, it was decided- to . leave. sanie .until they could .obtain ?suitable; material. A resignation vas received from the Secretary, Miss J. Knight, owing to her absence from, Kiama ,dmuring the week. Miss M, Rodgers was, then elected Secretary. A rule was made that girls missing two weeks training running .could not be .'expected, to be picked in the folowing game.' A hockey game was fixed to play Milton at Klama on Sunday, 20th July. A hockey dance was suggested but owing to so many dances being held, it ,was- decided to defer the matter to a date in November. The meeting decided that approach be made ,to the Kiama Council re a block of ground at Chapman's Point for a'hockey field.

BOILED WATER (Contributed by the Health Dept.) Water is a splendid drink-but it can easily be polluted. Many a holt iday under canvas has been ruined by failure to take commonsense pre-. cautions with drinking water. Many a military campaign has been smash ed by typhoid, cholera and dysentery. To protect Australian . troops against these water-borne diseases, every imian in forward areas was is sued with a. water sterilization out fit. This small tin contained two glass tubes. One held fifty white Sterilizing Tablets, the other fifty blue tablets. After filling his water bottle, thp soldier broke up a white tablet and dropped it in the contain er. After 30 minutes, hie added a blue "taste remover tablet." When it dissolved, the water was ready for drinking, pure and without the taste of chlorine. ALWAYS BOIL THE BILLY Unlike the green-clad soldier in the dark jungle, a camper can boil water without becoming a-target for snipers. It is unsafe to drink water straight from a river, cre...

It is hoped that eventually drums and other-instruments will be added, and that an` enduring love of music will be fostered in a practical way by this dvelopient. The Annual Inter-School Sports Meeting with Moss, Vale Central School, took' place recently. Moss Vale competitors were billeted with their Kiama friends, and after the sports, were oenteri'tained at a soc ial and.dance at the school. All ar rangements for this function,. such as catering, programmes and prepar ation of the rooms, were left to committees of the children, and a splendid job they made of their, function.
