STATE CONVENTION Sam Stewart Was Nominated for Governor at Great FaII Convention. The Democrats met in conven tion in Great Falls on Aug. 29th and nominated a State ticket that they expect to elect in November. Sam Stewart was nominated for Governor, beating Sen. B. George 1 of Billings by fifty votes. The Eastern part of Montana went solid for George, and he ought to feel proud that he received his votes from the Progressive part of the State, who are not hampered with a copper collar. Sen. Stout was nominated on the first ballot for Congress and it was a hot race between Evans of Missoula and Sen. WhiteAide of Flathead for who should receive the nomination to be Stout's run ning mate. George Grayson, of Harlowton i Wins the One Hundred a Dollar Prize. More interest was taken in the community prize, offered by the lt Meagher county fair than any t other prize offered, and the honor i fell to George Grayson of Harlow ton. This prize was for the best tont collection of grains, grasses, vege tables and roots grown in any one community. There were several entries and the competition was s brisk. J. H. Garret of Martingdale had a splendid collection of exhi bits, and John Burke 'of Bercail also had a good collection. There were other exhibits not as exten sive as those mentioned. Wilson, of Billings Nominated for Governor at GreatFalls Convention. The Republicans of the State met in convention in Great Falls on September 5th, and nominated the standard bearers for the state in the coming election. Lieuten ant Governor Allen was the logical nominee for Governor, but he was not suitable to the interests that have their headquarters on Wall Street. He was told they would not allow him to be nominated. The steam roller was not in as good condition as it was in the Living ston Convention and the state was busted. Gov. Allen is the one who deserves the credit for tearing things to pieces and Barry L. There were several speakers present, but most of them contented themselves with very few remarks concerning their own candidacy.
