The market developed more life today than for some time and most of the offerings changed hands at "very good values, considering the quality and unsettled Btate of eastern markets. The receipts were composed mostly of fair to good butchers steers, cows and heifers. The close was about steady. Kansas City market was 5 to 10c low er. The supply of hogs was larger than expected. The market opened early at Saturday's closing price, $3.45. First reports from eastern markets noted a decline of 5 and 10c and prices here dropped to $3.40 and the last few car loads went over the scales at $3.37 1-2. Bulk of heavy hogs sold at $3.40.
