A Very Remarkable Story. [New HIaven Palladium ] The story is told of a Hartford gentleman who lost $100 in bills, anl rernemberirng that' he had had the money last at his butch er's, went there to learn that just after he left a man came to the shop to make some purchases. He felt in. his pocket as if he had los. something. Then looking dowvn he saw a roll of bills on the floor, picked it up and count ed it. There was.just $100 and from it he paid for what he had bought. A week later the sec ond person returned the $100 to the first with the following strange explanation : On the day referred to he had been out to Windsor to collect some money, and in his haste to return to Hartford thurst it, $100 in bills, as he supposed into his vest pcket. When he went into the market above referred to, he naturally felt for his money, and missing it, looked around for it, and saw the roll on the floor, which he supposed was his own. Given in Love. A little girl 7 years old died in Phriladelphia a year or two ago. When the doctor t old her that she ootld inat live, she bade her mother send 'for the pastor of the church, .and gave him her little savings bank. "Open it," she said. There were in it $4 and a few cents. "Take them." said the child, "and build a church for poor people. Poor people, 'mind, who sit in the back seats of our church. They must not pay anything. I want all-the seats to be free." The clergyman took the mnon ey, "My child," he said, solemn ly, "it shall be done, with God's help." When the chill was dead he placed her little bank and the pittance it contained on the pul pit,a and told her story. Tears were in every eye. One wealthy man after another came forward with his offering. Children came, women also, anid the poor with their mites.
