Marfa, Tex., March 14. An attempt at "wholesale poisoning- -was recently dis covered at the Cleveland ranch near Marfa. By accident, a quantity of meat which had been butchered and salted down was found to contain poison. The discovery -was made by D. L. James, who gave some of the meat to the ranch dogs, one of which died and the others were made violently sick. He brought a piece of the meat to a local physician at Marfa, for examination, who pronounced it poisoned with strychnine. A large quantity of salt kept at the ranch for stock' purposes was later examined and found to con tain the same kind of poison.
