Parish Court and the Police Jury will meet Monday. Mr. Nutna Mollere has rented or purchased tile vacant lot on Crescent IPlace adjoining the ice-house, and is about to erect a spacious trame build ing in which, we presume, he will continue the business of saloon keep er. The young men of the Independent Band hold regular meetings for prac tice in their new quarters at the wharf house, and their fine music lends an additional charm to the balmy eve uings. The band is in excellent form and steadily improving. The late Tax Collector has effected a final settlemenllt with the Parish Treasurer. The total of collections from date of previous settlement to and including the Gth ultimo, was $1946, of which e1228 was tax of the year 1876. The amouut of that tat uncollected is but $1714. Pariah Court was opened last Mon day pursuant to adjournment, and at once adjourned to Monday next, 19th inst. The proceedings of the Police Ju ry's session of the 5th instant are published in this issue, not having been handed in by the Secretary last week. Mrs. M. Israel & Co. will pay li censes at a liberal discount. Our annual joke: To-morrow the New Orleans firemen will March 4th. The river is still falling slowly, and the flow of driftwood has almost stopped. The Sheriff will sell at the Court House, at 11 o'clock this morning, the property seized in the suit of Lapene & Ferre vs. Dumini LeBlanc. On Monday next the regular meet ing of the Police Jury, Town Council and Ascension Hook and Ladder Com pany will, or should, be held. Another notice of a sale of property by the Sheriff appears among our new advertisements this week. An in terest in the brick yard opposite the Catholic Church is to be disposed of.
